Carowinds Theme Park offers  season passes, Family entertainment park with more than 50 world class rides and movie themed attractions, thrill rides, Nicktoon themes, and Waterworks park (water park). Rides include the Star Trek Borg Assimilator,  24th century flying roller coaster, the tallest roller coaster in the park and the first roller coaster in the world to carry a Star Trek theme.

Discovery Place Charlotte is located at  301 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, North Carolina. The discovery place is a learning place for kids and adults, interesting exhibits, permanent exhibits, interactive exhibits for young children, aquarium, movies offers a full day of educational fun for everyone. The one thing I remember from a visit to Discovery Place is the huge Eyeball model you can walk through. It is a permanent exhibit. The Eyeball is a part of the Life Center exhibit along with a Heart and other body parts.

Charlotte Coliseum - events, concerts, sporting events, The Charlote Coliseum is Charlotte's largest entertainment venue. The Charlotte Coliseum is host to many big-name musical performances

Levine Museum of the New South is located at 200 East Seventh St. The museum features exhibits dating from 1865 to modern day

Outside Charlotte NC

Historic Rural Hill Farm was the home of Major John Davidson, American patriot and signer of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. Today, the 265 acre historic plantation stands as a memorial to early American agriculture and has become a cultural center for Scottish heritage. It is the oldest public historic site in Mecklenburg County dating circa 1760. On the farm stands a reproduction of the Davidson's first homestead known as Rural Retreat, and the final home of the family, which houses the museum and gift shop. Outbuildings are open to explore and a variety of animals roam throughout the site including the rare, Highland Cows, which originate from Scotland. The last two remaining one room schoolhouses for black and white children in Mecklenburg County are also located on the farm. Historic Rural Hill is open year round except for certain holidays. Educational programs and special events are held throughout the year. American Revolutionary War Reenactments

Carolina Raptor Center is located at 6000 Sample Rd and Huntersville Rd Latta Plantation Park. The center features a eagle aviary, education center, trails. The center also rescues and treats birds of prey.

Crowders Mountain State Park is located at West of Gastonia near SC border. Here you can go rock climbing

Davidson College is located atLake Norman in Troutman NC in Iredell County which is south of Statesville, north of Charlotte. Lake Norman is a part of the Duke Power State Park with boating, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking and a picnic area

Latta Plantation is located at 5225 Sample Rd in nearby Huntersville NC. The plantation home built in 1800. There are antiques, living history farm recreating time period, guides in costumes and self guided tours.

Loch Norman Highland Games are held in April featuring highland dancing, crafts, kilt wearing, games, more

Nascar racing at Lowes Motor Speedway located in Harrisburg NC just north of Charlotte. Races include the Winston select, Coca Cola 600, UAW/GM Quality 500, Busch Grand National

James K Polk Memorial  is located at 308 South Polk St in Pineville NC. There is a log cabin which is the, birthplace of James Polk the 11th President of USA. The memorial is a NC state historic site

McDowell Park  is located at  Lake Wylie which is just south of Charlotte off NC 49. You can go fishing, hiking, camping. there is a picnic area

Morrow Mountain State Park is east of Albemarle NC. There is a  picnic area, hiking trails canoe and boat rentals. You can go fishing and swimming here.

North Carolina transportation Museum is off I-85 North of Salisbury in Spencer NC. The museum has exhibits on the history of transportation in NC from 1800 thru today with shops.

Uwharrie National Forest is close to Morrow Mountain State Park with campgrounds, boating, trails

Reed Gold Mine is northeast of Charlotte NC with a museum, film, guided tours

Rowan Museum is located at 202 North Main St in Salisbury NC. The museum is a courthouse built in 1854 iwth civil war artifacts

Mooresville NC has the NC Racing Hall of Fame
