High Point is in the Piedmont triad area along with Greensboro and Winston Salem. It is southwest of Greensboro.

Getting Around

The main roads are I-85 business, US 311. The Amtrak Station located in downtown at 100 West High St. The Bus station is located at 100 Lindsay Street.

The visitors center is located at 300 South Main St.

Attractions

High Point is noted for Furniture Manufacturers showrooms.  Tours are available.

Atrium on Main is located downtown at 430 South Main street. There are 4 levels. It is a wholesale exhibition building.

Angela Peterson Doll and Miniature Museum is located at 101 West Green Drive. It features exhibits of antique dolls.

Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library is located at 1009 N. Main Street. It has over 4000 books on the history of furniture.

Castle McCullogh is located in nearby Jamestown. It is on the national register of historic places. The building is a restored gold refinery. Built in 1832, the castle is complete with drawbridge and towers. Take tours and pann for gold. Visit the gold mill and museum. Weddings and Receptions.

City Lake Park is located at 602 West Main St. in nearby Jamestown. Go fishing. Rent paddleboats and canoes. Ride on amusement rides and a train. Play on a waterslide. Swim in swimming pool.

Duncan Phfe chair is located in nearby Thomasville. It is18 feet tall, built of steel and concrete to commemorate the huge number of chairs produced by the Thomasville furniture factories.

Furnitureland South is off I-85. It is the Worl'ds Largest home furnishings showplace. The complex features several buildings full of furtiture in a gallery setting.

Furniture Discovery Center is located at 101 West Green Drive.

High Point Museum and Historical Park is located at 1859 East Lexington Ave. Visit the Haley House built 1786. It is on the national register of historic places. The Blacksmith shop  was built in the mid 1700s. Discover the weaving house. Explore life in the past.

The Mendenhall Plantation is located at 603 W. Main Street in nearby Jamestown. The plantatio was built in 1811. It was owned by Richard Mendenhall a Quaker from Pennsylvania. Featured at the plantation is a false bottom wagon that was used to help slaves escaped to freedom via the Underground Railway.

Oak Hollow Lake Park and Marina is located at 3431 North Centennial St. There is a golf course, boating and camping

Piedmont Environment Center is located at 1220 Penny Road next to High Point Lake. There are hiking trails. Visit the educational center which is made from recycled material. Explore the nature center. See an exhibit on small animals. Go kayaking and canoeing. Attend field classes and nature expeditions.
