Cullasaja River Gorge is off US 64. There are beautiful waterfalls here. Bridal Veil Falls is a 75 ft waterfall you can drive behind. Lower Cllasaja Falls are over 250 ft high waterfalls

Ski Scaly is NC ski resort with 4 slopes

Sapphire NC is 15 minute or so drive east of Highlands, 30 minutes from Brevard NC. Here you will find Lake Toxaway and Lake Saphire. There is a beach and you can golf here.
