Pleasure Island: Carolina Beach: Kure Beach, Fort Fisher

Pleasure Island is located on US 421 South of Wilmington NC. Pleasure Island is on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. There are  3 clean quiet beaches. Carolina Beach is in the Northern part of island. Kure Beach and Fort Fisher  is in the southern half of island.

Pleasure Island hosts 2 fishing tournaments: East Coast King Mackerel Tournament in July and the Carolina Beach Surf fishing tournament in October. also host the Pleasure Island Seafood Blues Jazz festival the 2nd weekend in October.

Carolina Beach tourist attractions:: boardwalk, fishing piers, miniature golf, deep sea charter boats, an arcade,  waterslides and Carolina beach state park. At the Carolina Beach Yacht basin you can rent charter boats and head boats

Carolina Beach State Park is located off US 421 south of Wilmington on Pleasure Island. The visitors center is at the park. Activities include: bird watching, camping, fishing, boating. You can go hiking on several trails and see fly trap nature trail with Venus fly traps. In the park are picnic tables and grills. There is a Marina with boat ramps provides access to nearby Cape Fear river, Atlantic Ocean, Carolina Beach Inlet and Masonboro Sound.

Fort Fisher State Recreation area is 20 miles south of Wilmington

Fort Fisher State Historic Site if located US 421 south of Kure Beach. It is the Civil War's largest earthen fortress built by Confederate army to protect the port of Wilmington. The State historic site has a Visitor center that has exhibits with information on blockade ruNers and the fort during the Civil War, artifacts, slide shows, picnic areas

NC Aquarium are located at Fort Fisher NC off US 421. The Aquarium features the Cape Fear Freshwater conservatory, alligator and turtle tanks, 2 story aquarium with sharks, stingrays and jellyfish tank.

nearby NC beaches in New Hanover County are Carolina beach, Kure Beach, Wilmington Beach. Activities include surf fishing, pier fishing, boating. There are boat ramps available for launching your boat.

Kure Beach NC has a Fishing pier and picnic areas.
