Topsail Island NC is located off US 17. You have to cross a bridge to get to it. It is a 26 mile barrier island. NC Beaches on Top Sail Island are: Surf City, North Topsail Beach, Topsail Beach. The closest town on Mainland is Sneeds Ferry. You can play golf at one of the Island's public golf courses. Off the coast of Topsail Island are many sunken blockade running ships near shore, at low tide you can see the ships. There are rumors of sunken treasure Topsail Island Museum is located at 720 Channel Blvd. The museum has exhibits on the history of the island featuring Indian artifacts, pirates and WWII information. During WWII, Topsail Island was a anti aircraft training center (Camp David). Then after the war, it was used briefly for a testing ground for missiles.
